Awarded North Carolina Event of the Year 2007 by the North Carolina Association of Festivals and Events!
Oysters—Marine mollusks having a rough irregular shell found on the sea bed, mostly in coastal water. The coastal waters of Brunswick County produce an abundance of oysters. Each year, over 45,000 people, including locals and visitors, attend the North Carolina Oyster Festival to pay homage to the mighty mollusk.
2008 marks the 28th anniversary of the festival, which will be hosted by the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce on October 18-19 in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
The 28th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival will feature live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, festival food, a road race, kid's area, North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championships and an Oyster Stew Cook-off.
Come join us and find out for yourself why the oyster is so treasured by Brunswick County natives.
